Exercising outdoors? Check the air quality forecast to find the best time for a workout or run. Knowing your local air quality can help reduce aggravating respiratory problems such as asthma. The last week of April is Air Quality Awareness Week, and May is Asthma Awareness Month.

Bee Safe with Pesticides. It's that time of year to start gardening ... and if you use pesticides where bees are present, always READ THE LABEL. Be sure you know how to use pesticides or other garden chemicals safely and correctly. More about protecting bees and other pollinators:

Don't Get Bugged. Mosquito season is almost here. You can help control mosquitos before they become a problem. Regularly drain or change standing water near your home - some mosquitos need only a few tablespoons (!) of water to breed. Fix A Leak. Are you ready to chase down leaks? Household leaks can waste more than 1 trillion gallons of water annually nationwide. Remember, you can find and fix leaks inside and outside your home to save valuable water and money -- during Fix A Leak Week and all year long.

Tell 'em what you think (ends June 12). In March President Trump signed an executive order to make the federal government more efficient, effective, and accountable. President Trump wants to hear your ideas and suggestions, and the White House has posted a web page where you can share your thoughts about EPA or other federal agencies.

Air Sensor Challenge. Federal, state, local, and tribal agencies are interested in new ways to monitor air quality during fire events to better protect public health. This challenge is looking for solvers to build a multi-node measurement system capable of rapid deployment and continuous real-time monitoring of PM2.5, CO, O3, and CO2 plus other technical requirements.
