Today's question:
Q: What is your opinion on A/C cooled seats? Gimmicky or useful especially living in muggy South? Might they save gas if you need to use your car A/C less?
A: Good idea not yet perfected. Every one I've used makes it feel as if I've spilled a Coke in my lap and it soaked into the seat and is chilling the buns. But it's likely to be a fuel-saver, yes. Honda's Clarity hydrogen fuel-cell car uses heated and cooled seats, expecting that if the people are comfy they don't need to crank the climate control up or down and draw power.
