Today's question:
Q: Is the 2011 BMW 5 Series a good car to buy?

A: As in every case, depends on your priorities and preferences. Some recent time in a 5 suggested to me that BMW might be edging back to the 'good, ol' days' when the cars felt just right. The dreaded iDrive seemed ever-so-slightly less obtuse and thus easier to use (or ignore). The MT version I drove had nice clutch action, agreeable shifting and seemed a lovely blend of daily driving ease and get 'er done energy. But the Infiniti M37 is attractive on many fronts, too. And Audis have their merits. Can you afford it? Does it have some chemistry with and for you? Those are key questions in this segment of the market.
