Interactive map for Clean water - A new interactive mapper helps the public compare water quality trends over the last two years. The public can compare information on inspections conducted by EPA or the state, violations and enforcement actions in their communities over the past two years, and penalties for violations.

Kids book on air quality - Kids! Find out "Why is Coco Orange?" in a new, free book about a chameleon with asthma who can't change colors. Coco and his friends learn about air quality and how to stay healthy and active - in a way young children can understand.

In December 2010, EPA turned 40! Here are some key events and activities from years past that happened this month:
Apr 15, 1972 - The U.S. and Canada agree to clean up the Great Lakes, which supply drinking water to about 25 milion people.
Apr 19, 1979 - EPA begins phasing out the production and use of PCBs, a chemical in many household products that causes pollution.
Apr 19, 1990 - EPA's Toxic Release Inventory provides the public with information about pollutants released from facilities.
Apr 20, 2010 - All levels of government quickly respond when BP's Deepwater Horizon oil rig explodes in the Gulf.
Apr 21, 1997 - President Bill Clinton signs an order protecting children from environmental health risks.
Apr 22, 1970 - More than 20 million people participate in THE FIRST EARTH DAY on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and nationwide.
Apr 26, 1986 - A reactor at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine explodes. EPA monitoring shows no threat to the U.S.
