RECENT NEWS

Next Steps for the Proposed Clean Power Plan Repeal - The Agency will solicit public input as it considers the next regulatory steps to limit greenhouse gas emissions from existing power plants. "Today's move ensures adequate and early opportunity for public comment from all stakeholders about next steps the Agency might take to limit greenhouse gases from stationary sources, in a way that properly stays within the law, and the bounds of the authority provided to EPA by Congress." -- EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt. Comments are due 60 days after publication in the Federal Register.

EPA Cross-Agency Effort to Address PFAS - The Agency launched a cross-agency effort to address Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) including PFOA, PFOS, and GenX. These substances are a diverse group of compounds resistant to heat, water, and oil that are persistent in the environment and resist degradation. "Protecting public health is EPA's highest priority and through these efforts we are taking the lead to ensure that communities across the country have the tools they need to address these chemicals." -- Administrator Scott Pruitt.

• PEYA Nominations Open (due Mar 1) - Your project - or one you are sponsoring - could be an award winner. Applicants from all 50 states and U.S. territories are eligible to compete for a regional certificate of special recognition and a national Presidential award. The application period for the PEYA program is now open. Applications are due by March 1.

• P3 Applications Open (due Feb 7) - It's the 14th annual People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) Student Design Competition!  Under P3, college teams apply for grants to develop and display innovative solutions for a sustainable future, offering students hands-on experience with classroom learning.
