Secretary-General will tomorrow travel to Denver, Colorado, where he will deliver a speech at the University of Denver's Josef Korbel School of International Studies and meet with industry leaders to discuss the need to promote renewable sources of energy.
Mr. Ban will also receive the university's Global Advancement Award in recognition of his efforts to strengthen the United Nations, empower women and promote sustainable development, his spokesperson said.
He will meet with various leaders of the energy industry, including those involved in wind, solar and natural gas, to discuss sustainable energy for both the developed and developing world.
The Secretary-General will also tour the US Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado, the country's only federal laboratory dedicated to the research, development, commercialization and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
