EPA Proposes Affordable Clean Energy Rule. A new rule was proposed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from existing coal-fired electric utility generating units and power plants across the country. This proposal, entitled the Affordable Clean Energy (ACE) Rule, establishes emission guidelines for states to use when developing plans to limit GHGs at their power plants. "The ACE Rule would restore the rule of law and empower states to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provide modern, reliable, and affordable energy for all Americans," said EPA Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler. "Today's proposal provides the states and regulated community the certainty they need to continue environmental progress while fulfilling President Trump's goal of energy dominance."

EPA's Superfund Task Force Continues to Ensure Cleanups Remain a Top Priority. EPA commemorated the 40th anniversary of Love Canal, a tragedy that spurred a law to clean up hazardous waste and give voice to communities across the country. "The 40th anniversary of Love Canal is a reminder of both the devastating consequences of environmental disasters and the power of concerned citizens to spur change nationwide," said Wheeler. "The Superfund program is a top priority at EPA, and we are making tremendous progress cleaning up contaminated sites, protecting public health, and ensuring a tragedy like Love Canal never happens again."

Fuel Economy Proposal for 2021-2026 Vehicles. EPA and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released a proposed rule to correct the national automobile fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions standards to give the American people greater access to safer, more affordable vehicles that are cleaner for the environment. "We are delivering on President Trump's promise to the American public that his administration would address and fix the current fuel economy and greenhouse gas emissions standards," said Acting Administrator Wheeler. "Our proposal aims to strike the right regulatory balance based on the most recent information and create a 50-state solution that will enable more Americans to afford newer, safer vehicles that pollute less."

Under the guidance of a faculty advisor, interdisciplinary student teams design an innovative green infrastructure solution that addresses stormwater pollution and that benefits the larger campus community by adding ecological and aesthetic value. Air Toxics Assessment. EPA released the sixth National Air Toxics Assessment (NATA), which provides technical information on potential health risks from hazardous air pollutants. The information in this release is based on emissions for the calendar year 2014. NATA is intended to help EPA, state, and local or tribal air agencies better understand potential risks to public health from air pollution. NATA does not estimate any person's individual risk.
