RECOVERY AFTER HURRICANE SANDY

-Generator exhaust is deadly! Always put generators outside well away from doors, windows, and vents.
-Avoid contact with flood water. Don't restart your well pump if it was flooded.
-Mold can cause serious health problems. Dry wet items within 498 hours or discard them.
-Call 800-424-8802 to report oil, chemical, or hazardous spills or leaks.

eCycle - take your old computers or other electronics to a local recycling center. This helps keep lead, cadmium, and other substances out of the landfill. Find eCycling centers near you. November 15 is America Recycles Day.

Prevent Lead Poisoning! For children, even low levels of exposure to lead can cause a host of lifetime problems such as learning disabilities, decreased intelligence and speech, language, and behavioral problems. Every October, Lead Poison Prevention Week is a reminder to protect children.

Nominate A Teacher! The Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators recognizes outstanding K-12 teachers who employ innovative approaches to environmental education. Two teachers from each EPA region will be selected to receive the award. 2012-13 nominations are due January 31.
