Good news: Cleaner air. We've strengthened the air quality standards for ground-level ozone, a precursor to smog. The revised standards will better protect public health, resulting in fewer premature deaths or thousands fewer missed school and work days and asthma attacks.

WHAT YOU CAN DO, WHAT YOU CAN USE

Improving EPA.gov.  As you use EPA's web site over the coming weeks, you may notice some changes. We're re-organizing our online content by environmental topic, and by tasks the audience (that's you!) want to complete. Also, we're making our web pages work better on hand-devices, so you can find what you need wherever you are. Read more about the ways we're transforming online.

Be SepticSmart. If you have a home septic system, regular maintenance saves money AND helps protect the environment. Have your system inspected every three years. Avoid pouring fats, grease, or solids down the drain. Remind guests not to park or drive on the drainfield. Learn more ways you can be SepticSmart.
