WHAT YOU CAN DO, WHAT YOU CAN USE

VW Violations Update:  EPA has issued a second notice of violation to Volkswagen of additional Clean Air Act violations. This notice alleges VW installed air pollution emissions "defeat devices" -- designed to get around federal emissions tests -- in more VW or Audi models and also in certain Porsche models. Consumers should note that the alleged violations do not present a safety hazard and the vehicles are still safe to drive. Owners of the vehicles do not need to take any action at this time.

Discovery Channel.  In October, EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy and the Discovery Channel hosted an online discussion with students about the importance of energy efficiency and how our energy use affects climate change.  Find out more about energy efficiency and watch the event's archive video.

Reducing food waste. As we enter the holiday season, remember to feed people, not landfills. Prevent waste by being smart about what you buy, how you prep, and how you store food. Donate extra food to an area food bank. And if somehow you still end up with scraps, compost them.
