Oil and Gas MOU signed. EPA entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the non-profit, multi-stakeholder, educational organization known as STRONGER. The name, STRONGER, is an acronym for State Review of Oil and Natural Gas Environmental Regulations. "This MOU will provide more opportunities for EPA and STRONGER to work together to improve both environmental protections and economic outcomes," said EPA Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler. Cleaner Trucks Initiative. EPA Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler launched the Cleaner Trucks Initiative (CTI) to further decrease nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from on-highway heavy-duty trucks and engines. CTI will include a future rulemaking that will update the existing NOx standard which was last set in 2001 while also streamlining compliance and certification requirements. "The Cleaner Trucks Initiative will help modernize heavy-duty truck engines, improving their efficiency and providing cleaner air for all Americans," said Wheeler.

$614 Million Loan for Pure Water project. EPA issued a $614 million Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) loan to the City of San Diego, Calif., to help finance its Pure Water project. The project will produce 30 million of gallons per day of high-quality drinking water, save the city money through reduced imported water costs, benefit the environment through reduced ocean discharges, and provide a reliable, sustainable, water supply for future generations. "Through WIFIA, EPA is playing a leading role in President Trump's efforts to upgrade our nation's water infrastructure, create well-paying jobs, and ensure all Americans have access to clean drinking water," said EPA's Andrew Wheeler.

America Recycles. EPA Acting Administrator Wheeler convened the first-ever EPA Recycling Summit bringing together leaders from industry and all levels of government to discuss opportunities to advance and strengthen the domestic recycling industry and markets. In addition, a Memorandum Of Understanding with the National Vehicle Mercury Switch Recovery Program will reduce mercury air emissions. "During today's historic summit, a wide array of industry, government, and non-profit leaders advanced ideas and solutions to enhance our recycling infrastructure, create new markets for recycled materials, and improve public education regarding recycling," said EPA Acting Administrator Andrew Wheeler. "Enhancing the domestic recycling industry not only improves the environment, but it also saves local governments valuable resources and provides high-quality materials for American manufacturers."

Fish Consumption Advisories. Fish and shellfish are high in nutrients and a well-balanced diet that includes a variety of fish and shellfish can contribute to heart health and children's development.
