A former police officer from a polygamous community has filed a lawsuit against Arizona officials, claiming he was defamed and his civil rights violated when they revoked his police certification.
The two brothers who were apparently shot to death by their mother late Saturday were students at Rhodes Junior High School in Mesa, police said Monday.
With Arizona among at least 21 states where swine flu is already widespread, state health officials are casting a surveillance net wider than normal to detect cases of illnesses and deaths as they try to learn how the outbreak is spreading and what can be done to help those at risk.
