Today's question:
Q: I am interested in a new or used, convertible/t-top, sports car that is comfortable enough for long interstate drives. I have been thinking Boxster, Corvette, Miata, Sky, S2000 and even an older SL500 (maybe 2003 or 2004).
A: You've hit the ones I'd have suggested, though the Sky is a Saturn and thus about to become an orphan. It's GM near-clone is the Pontiac Solstice, and Pontiac's being discontinued, too, so no relief there. And Consumer Reports lists Sky and Solstice in its 'used cars to avoid' dishonor roll, for below-average reliability. The BMW Z3 and Z4 are worth a look, too, and BMW's official consumer site makes it easy to find certified, pre-owned models, so the shopping task becomes easier. Also, the M-B SL in '03 and '05 are on the Consumer Reports 'avoid' list.
