Breaking News: Obama cites intelligence failures in airline plot

WASHINGTON - President Obama said today that the nation faces "a challenge of the utmost urgency" in the face of continued al-Qaeda attempts to "kill Americans." Speaking on the attempted airline bombing plot on Christmas Day, Obama also asserted that the government had enough information to foil the attempt, but the intelligence community "failed to connect the dots." Obama also said he was suspending the transfer of Guantanamo detainees from Yemen. The attack raised concerns about Yemen, because the suspect claimed to have been acting on instructions from al-Qaeda operatives there. For more on the story, click here.
