WHAT YOU CAN DO, WHAT YOU CAN USE

Fix a Leak! Did you know that an American home can waste, on average, more than 10,000 gallons of water every year due to running toilets, dripping faucets, and other household leaks? Being handy around the house doesn’t have to be difficult. Leaky toilet flappers, faucets, and other valves are easy to fix and usually require only a few tools and hardware. March 15 to 21 is "Fix a Leak" week. Learn how at:

Enter the Environmental Justice (EJ) Contest! Top videos win cash prizes!
I am environmental justice, are you? EJ means that every American has a right to a healthy environment in which to live, learn, work and play. Presently, many communities - particularly low-income, minority and tribal populations - live in unhealthy conditions. Join the conversation today by capturing the faces of the grassroots, the EJ stories that matter to you, the solutions that have made your community a better place to live, or tell us your vision of a sustainable, healthy future. Submit either a 30 or 60 second public service message or a longer 3 to 5 minute informational video by April 8th at: http://www.epa.gov/compliance/environmentaljustice/events/video-contest.html

March is National Poison Prevention Month. More than 40 percent of calls received by U.S. Poison Control Centers involve a child under three years of age. Protect children from poisoning by household substances. Lock up household pesticides, cleaning products and other chemicals in a high cabinet out of the reach of children. http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/health/poisonprevention.htm

National Groundwater Awareness Week is March 7-13. More than 90 percent of all public drinking water systems rely on ground water to supply the population with drinking water. And millions of Americans rely on ground water from aquifers to supply their private wells. Learn to protect this vital resource. Citizens can a take an active and positive role in protecting their community's ground water supplies.
